Our first CSA veggie box has arrived.

A couple of months ago, our (then, to be) neighbour Kathleen asked us if we wanted to join her and go halves on a Community Supported Agriculture basket. We had been interested in getting a basket ourselves for a little while, but knew we wouldn't be able to eat everything that would come with it in time for the next one to come. Kathleen was in the same boat, so we split it.

Kathleen scouted out a CSA program from the Chuckwagon Farm Market ( http://www.thechuckwagonfarmmarket.com/CSA.html ). We subscribed for the entire season, and get 15 weeks worth of fresh, local produce for a very good weekly price (especially when split between two parties).

Our first basket came this past Friday, and contained a bounty of carrots, beets, broccoli, lettuce (a lot of lettuce), spinach, green onion, a fairly hefty cucumber, 5 lbs of potatoes, and potted parsley, basil, and another herb, which I cannot recall (Rachel and I have entrusted the herbs to Kathleen's much greener thumb). They said that as the program continues, some weeks we can expect twice as much as we received this first week. Yum!
